I’m Alice / Soulfully. The short story is:
I decided to learn music music because I don’t believe that people have innate or inborn talent — instead, I think that skill is very evidently fostered through hours & hours of behind the scenes deliberate practice, training, and learning.
For that reason, this is a progress blog (and perhaps a friendly scientific experiment) chronicling the beginning of my pursuit in music where you’ll be able to see that improvement, hopefully. And of course, I hope that by sharing music I can bring just a little happiness to you. This blog is also as a collection of writing, science, inspiration, and other resources.
The longer story:
I live in the Bay Area, currently 17 years old. I’ve started studying music one year ago in January 2012. Since then, I’ve been building my knowledge from the very beginning brick by brick — from my first instrument to my first software and etcera. I am not proficient at all yet and consider myself an amateur, but hopefully working on music consistently will bring me some kind of level of competency.
I’m interested learning the back-ends and front-ends of composing music. A few years from now, I hope to be a sustainable musician.
In my spare time I like bike around the streets, digest Japanese animation and culture, and have endless mind quabbles with myself. I’m a pretty sane person — for the most part. Some are confused what gender I am, but the sidebar picture on the left should explain. Just me wearing a beret walking the streets at night, though a little unclear.
(Here is my other blog if you happen to fancy illustrative art.)
